How to get to and Around Guanajuato
Although Guanajuato is not very well known, it is very easy to get to…
The closest airport to Guanajuato (BJX) is just 20 minutes from the capital city in Silao. The following are the different airlines that arrive into Leon International Airport:
Aeromexico (Los Angeles CA, Ontario CA)
American Eagle (Dallas, TX)
Continental Airlines (Houston, TX)
Delta Airlines (Atlanta, GA)
Mexicana (Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA, Oakland, CA, Sacramento, CA, San Jose, CA)
Once you arrive in Guanajuato, you can get a taxi at the airport for about $35 USD and get taken directly to your destination. Or you may contact the Guanajuato Guru to have arrangements made… firstname.lastname@example.org
Buses and Taxis
One of the best past-times in Guanajuato is wandering on foot throughout the center. However you may need a taxi to take you to places such as Valenciana, Marfil (Museo de Gene Byron), or the busstation. Taxis can be found quite easily downstairs near the Mercado Hidalgo, they charge about $30-$40pesos.
Buses to San Miguel Allende and Dolores Hidalgo (or anywhere in Mexico) leave from the Central de Autobuses, about a 10-15 minute taxi ride on the outskirts of town. Bus Tickets and schedules can be accessed online for Primera Plus (www.primeraplus.com.mx) and ETN (www.etn.com.mx)
Where is a Clinic or Hospital?
The main hospital with English speaking doctors is located in the heart of town in Plaza de la Paz. In a building across from the Basilica with the sign Plaza Mayor.
The Red Cross Clinic is located nearby, next door to the Commercial Mexicana. see above
